Here’s a short poem I wrote in participation of WeWriWa:
There is a book
An old Arab trader warned me of
that takes your whole life to read.
Whole worlds are contained within.
And when you finish
you have just one day
to think it over and decide
if it was worth it after all.

/ June 2, 2013I don’t usually like poems, but this one is fantastic!!! Haunting, even. Gah! I can’t get over how much I like this poem! Are there any poetry competitions you can enter this into? Because I am positive you would win.

/ June 2, 2013Yes, I would have to agree. I don’t often come away from a poem feeling quite so intrigued. The questions it brings to mind. Would you want to read the book? Would you want to finish the book? How could you make the book last longer? Perhaps it is the book of life.

/ June 2, 2013The initial idea was wondering if someone would have regrets if they spent their whole life watching someone else’s life. I immediately thought this would be a bad thing, but then, as I thought more about it, I realized that it could also be a good thing too, especially if your real life would have been extra shitty.
The questions you’ve raised have intrigued me just as much as the initial ones that prompted me to write. Thanks for reading, once again!
Your last question is very intriguing indeed.

/ June 2, 2013What does it say about me that my first thought was that the book had to be the Necronomicon….

/ June 4, 2013Oh is it the book of life to which the trader refers? I loved it. I read it over a few times and ech gave me a piece more of the meaning, or what I got out of it. Excellent job! What a pleasant surprise to see a poem.

I admire great poetry, all the more so because I have no idea how it’s done. This one is beautiful and true.
